We got a little off topic today at Mugsy PR today remembering a dear pet that both Emily and I shared – Chloe. When we saw that today was World Pet Memorial Day how could we not? She was a great dog that we both had the pleasure of taking care of.
Emily and I are both animal lovers. At this moment, I have a dog (Jack) and a cat (Gucci). Emily has a dog (Rex) and a bearded dragon (Mozie). However, we’ve both had other pets in the past and help take care of friends’ pets whenever we can. In fact, my husband and I just kept my sister and brother-in-law’s dog Judge this last weekend while they were vacationing!
Chloe
Emily first adopted Chloe over 12 years ago at least. She had the pleasure of raising her as a young dog but due to her moving, she needed to find a forever home for her. She was a gentle giant…but not many landlords or apartment management companies think the same when they found out she was a Rottweiler/Lab mix. She was definitely a big girl, but the first to rescue and take care of stray cats and kittens in the neighborhood when she lived with Emily.
My husband and I knew the dog and loved her, so when Emily was looking for a forever home for her…Mike and I looked at each other and smiled. We loved her and were excited to be able to care for her! She was great with our Lab mix puppy Jack. Since she was older, she helped to calm him down, she protected our cat from other visiting dogs that were too excited for her highness’s liking. The best part…Emily was able to visit her anytime and take care of her when we were out of town to give her snuggles.
Unfortunately, Emily and I (and my husband) lost her last year in February. We knew it was coming, but it was still hard since she was such a sweetheart. She was 15 and we still talk about her to this day. I remember her as the protector of our household (both the animals and people) and Emily remembers her as the “little” girl who was the savior of helpless animals and the best cuddler around.
Mugsy PR has been open for over 2 and a half years, but we have been a family for much longer than that and intend to keep it that way!
